Carthage Visit

On Saturday morning we woke up bright and early to go to Nauvoo for the pageant. We decided to go to Carthage Jail first. The last time we went to the Nauvoo/Carthage area we got there really late in the day and were not able to do any of the tours.  So it was nice to get there early enough to be able to go into the buildings. The original plan was to stay a night last weekend at the Douglas' home in Nauvoo, but Casey was on call and we couldn't arrange it for another date as the Douglas' would be out of town. We were determined to go and see the pageant even if it meant driving long hours of the night.

Tried to get a decent family picture, but Hayden NEVER wants to pose for pictures anymore:(

The stairs the mob pushed their way up to get to the men in the upstairs bedroom and looking out the window Joseph fell out of.

Upstairs in the room where Joseph and Hyrum Smith were martyred.  It was a pretty cool experience, our tour guide was great and we were all able to feel the spirit while in the room.

The bullet hole in the door of the upstairs bedroom where Joseph and Hyrum Smith were martyred.

My love!  So glad we were all  able to make the trip together!

Eric looking tired.  I think the kids wore him out this time:)  But we really appreciated his willingness to help us these past two weeks.  He's the best!!
